The JCAC operates the second and fourth busiest airports in the state, a 1,000 acre industrial park with over 50 resident businesses and organizations with nearly 5,000 employees, a six-mile rail system that moved over 1,800 cars in 2006, and a water system that distributes close to 300 million gallons annually.

Lee Metcalfe, A.A.E. has been Executive Director for the JCAC since 1989, and is the chief executive for the airports organization, reporting to the Airport Commission. He is a graduate of the University of California with an MBA and of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, and is an Accredited Airport Executive. Lee served six years in the Marine Corps as a combat pilot and achieved the rank of Captain. He was previously the vice-president/chief administrative officer of a multinational engineering and manufacturing company and was chief executive for the government of Eagle County, Colorado.

Robert Perry has been Deputy Director since 2008. He is responsible for all aviation activities at both Johnson County airports as well as administrative and financial functions. He is a graduate of Webster University with an MPA and of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, and is a candidate for professional accreditation as an airport executive. Bob served 22 years in the Air Force as a combat pilot and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was previously the Director of Aviation and Administration for the Airport Commission, and prior to that was a Senior Financial Analyst for Johnson County, Kansas.
